Jeff has been practicing law since 1976. He moved to Illinois from his boyhood home in Canton, OH in 1969 to attend Northwestern University, and, except for three years at Harvard Law School, he has lived in Chicago ever since.
Jeff specializes in labor, commercial, employment and civil rights litigation. In his over 40 years of practice, he has litigated in state and federal trial and appellate courts and administrative agencies. He has represented plaintiffs in federal civil rights class actions and defendants in employment class action cases. He has also represented companies and individual in various forms of commercial practice including contract, tort, fraud and defamation cases. Jeff was co-counsel on the landmark Dupuy class action, which challenged the Illinois Department of Child and Family Services’ child abuse investigations on the basis that certain aspects of the investigation violated parents’ due process rights. Jeff currently serves as an arbitrator with the American Arbitration Association.
Jeff is a past board member and president of the Chicago Council of Lawyers. He formerly supervised employment litigation at the Legal Assistance Foundation of Chicago, and was actively involved in legislative negotiations on civil rights and unemployment insurance issues in Illinois. He was a member and president of the Board of Morgan Park Academy.
